The International Architectural Conference Piran Days of
Architecture
First presented in 1983, with its old tradition it is held every year
at the end of November in the charming, medieval Slovene town of Piran.
The aim of the conference is to assess current trends in architecture
and present the most progressive and innovative ideas of architectural
and spatial production.
Many world renowned architects have lectured at Piran Days; among them
are Friedrich Achleitner, Boris Podrecca, Heinz Tesar, Luigi Semerani,
Gino Valle, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Alvaro Siza Vieira, Peter Zumthor,
Enric Miralles, Christian de Portzamparc, Sverre Fehn, Kenneth Frampton,
David Chipperfield, among others.
The conference is traditionally accompanied by the International
Architectural Exhibition of recent works by Central European architects
as well as the distinguished Piranesi Award.
The conferences of international reputation, were focused on the significance
of architectural reflection in the spatial and temporal context of
European cultures.

About the Award
The International Architectural Conference is traditionally accompanied
by the International Architectural Exhibition of recent works by
Central European architects as well as the distinguished Piranesi
Award, named after the 18th century Italian artist and
architect Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720–1778), who’s family
comes from Piran.
Every year the selectors select five projects from their country which
compete for Piranesi Award. The jury consists of the
participating lecturers of the International Architectural Conference. The works
are presented at the
civic gallery Mestna galerija Piran.
